About this calculator
The US Navy circumference method estimates body fat percentage from a tape measure — height, neck and waist (plus hips for women). It's not a lab measurement, but it tracks change well and adds the composition context that BMI lacks: two people with identical BMI can differ enormously in body fat.

Male, 175cm, neck 38cm, waist 88cm: estimated body fat ≈ 19.8% — inside the typical 10–20% healthy range for men.
Common mistakes
- Pulling the tape tight — measure snug but not compressing.
- Measuring the waist at the trouser line instead of the navel.
- Comparing measurements taken at different times of day.
