About this calculator

Influencer campaigns get judged on vibes more than any other channel. This calculator applies the same discipline as paid ads: campaign cost (fee, gifted product at cost, shipping) against the gross profit of attributed sales — giving a profit-based ROI and the break-even revenue the campaign needed.

The formula

Gross profit = Attributed revenue × Margin% Net = Gross profit − Campaign cost ROI = Net ÷ Campaign cost × 100

Worked example

Cost £800, attributed revenue £3,200, margin 40%: gross profit £1,280 → net £480, ROI +60%. Break-even was £2,000 of revenue.

Common mistakes

  • Measuring ROI on revenue instead of margin — a 4x 'return' at 25% margin is break-even, not triumph.
  • Ignoring the cost of gifted product and shipping in the campaign cost.
  • Judging awareness campaigns purely on same-week coded sales.

Frequently asked questions

Unique discount codes and affiliate links catch most direct response; allow a window (e.g. 30 days) and watch branded-search lift for the rest.

Nano and micro influencers with engaged niches often outperform celebrities per pound. Test small, keep the winners, and negotiate reuse rights for winning content.

Gifting suits small creators; the calculator treats product-at-cost plus shipping as the campaign cost either way.

Assumptions & limitations

Attribution is inherently leaky — treat the result as a floor when codes are the only tracking.
